First time visiting a Chiropractor? You may be wondering what to expect. Will it hurt? Will I be twisted up like a pretzel? It is helpful to know what exactly goes on during your first appointment. The more information, the better your experience.
What do Chiropractors do?
Chiropractic doctors go to school just as long as medical doctors do. They are experts in the spine and have extensive knowledge and training in muscles, bone, disorders, exercise therapy, nutrition, and the nervous system.
What will a chiropractor do on the first visit?
Your first visit can range anywhere between 30-90 minutes depending on the injury and nature of your visit. As you enter our office, you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist. Relax have a seat. Our staff will give you a basic initial patient intake form to fill out to help us better understand any pre-existing conditions, your family medical history, or other health-related information that can aid with treatment.
Upon meeting Dr. Nevin Wadehra, our Chiropractor in North York, a full medical history will be conducted 1 on 1 with you. Following with a physical exam checking your joints, muscles, reflexes, spine, neck, and posture to see what structures are affected. The chiropractor on staff will effectively communicate a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
A little soreness after your first treatment and adjustment is commonly experienced. This is completely normal as your spine adapts to its corrected alignment and will likely dissipate quickly. After your initial treatment, our Chiropractor will discuss future treatments with you. During this time, our doctor takes the time to answer any questions you may have about your care and future treatments in our clinic. Depending on your condition, you may be prescribed at-home exercises that will effectively aid in your healing as well as vitamins, diet, and nutrition advice best fitted to your needs.
Finally, you will be escorted back to the reception desk to finalize your appointment and to schedule your next appointment and follow-up visit as discussed with the doctor.
